Sarafacdi CEO, Blessing Tunde Dada, has been chosen for Chevening.

I can’t keep calm because I’ve been #ChosenForChevening, the most prestigious scholarship in the world.
My journey to the Chevening Awards (FCDO) has been a unique one, spanning three years. I hope my story inspires and guides those who aspire to achieve global recognition and seize opportunities like Chevening and others.
In 2020, I embarked on my Chevening application journey. I owe my introduction to my boss, Mr. Kayode Adaramodu, who recognized the importance of my work. Despite his busy schedule, even while running for Ekiti State Governor, he generously devoted his time to helping me review my essay. His guidance extended beyond mere review; he taught me the art of effective writing. However, my writing skills were just getting started. I received a rejection, and I knew I had more work to do.
In 2021, I dedicated myself to improving my community work. I let go of other job opportunities and focused entirely on my organization, Sarafacdi4africa. I committed myself to learning and self-development. I applied again and received an interview invitation, but the outcome was another rejection. This is where resilience and unwavering commitment truly matter. What kept me going was the passion for my work and the recognition and accolades I received from various sources. I believed I was on the right path.
Over the years, I’ve made significant contributions through my organization and volunteered extensively. I pursued online courses, built a valuable network of influential individuals in my field, and closely followed global scholars like @Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi, Cassandra Akinde, Olajide Akintayo, @Summer Okibe,, Funmilola Awosanya Boriowo and many more. Websites like Opportunity Desk and Scholarship region became my most visited pages. I initiated a program called “Real Talk With Scholars,” inviting the scholars mentioned above to teach others how to craft winning essays.
In 2022, I meticulously revised my essays, bolstered my track record, and submitted my application. The waiting period began again.
Without further ado, I was selected for an interview. I left no stone unturned, conducting over 10 mock interviews with friends and mentors. I sought the prayers of my family, pastor, and close friends, including Janet and Honour, who rallied behind me, urging me to excel.
During the interview, I learned there were over 14,000 applicants in Nigeria and more than 70,000 globally. Being shortlisted for the interview was a privilege in itself.
After another nerve-wracking wait, the results were finally released, and I received the news I had worked so hard for—I was selected. Out of over 14,700 applicants in Nigeria, I was among the top 44 scholars chosen. It’s a testament to the effort I put in, and it feels incredible to earn a scholarship valued at over 33 million naira. 😆😂
Moving forward, I’m excited to embark on a one-year master’s degree program at the University of Sussex in the UK, the number 1 university in the QS university global ranking for development studies. I look forward to personal and professional growth, connecting with like-minded peers, and learning from esteemed professors.
To fellow applicants, the Chevening scholarship is now open. Please visit www.chevening.org. As for those seeking to access my essay, remember that your journey is unique, and copying mine won’t enhance your creativity and critical thinking. Conduct thorough research, write your story authentically, and put your best effort forward. By doing this, you won’t need to request my essay.
I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office and UK in Nigeria for their unwavering support and this great opportunity.
